In the Pacific Northwest in 1956, the basking shark had been effectively eradicated from the area, from shark hunting ships with sharp spikes to kill them. While interviewing a business person who was most likely in charge of the operation, the interviewer questions why they did this, as the shark is peaceful and only eats plankton. He says that they end up in fishing nets and cost money. While they argue, beneath one of the shark hunting ships is a small basking shark who is angry.
