Laboratory is the first world in Tasty Planet: Back for Seconds. There are four levels and two Comic Strips in Story Mode and there are nine levels in Bonus Mode in this world.

Plot

In the opening comic strip, we see that an old scientist has finally created his greatest invention: a time machine. He shows this to his apprentice, who notices another invention on the desk. The old scientist explains that he created it accidentally while experimenting with nanotechnology. He says it is grey goo, a substance that can 'eat' anything smaller than itself. His apprentice feeds it candy, which causes it to grow big enough to eat other things. It eats through various science equipment and animals in the world's four levels, eventually eating the time machine. It then travels back 65 million years in time: The Late Cretaceous, and he see an aphid.
