The Old Scientist is the man who created the Grey Goo. As the name suggests, he is old, wears glasses, wears a lab coat, has a moustache, is balding, wears black shoes, and wears brown trousers. His colleague is the Young Scientist. He works at the Nano Research Headquarters. He's appears in Tasty Planet, Tasty Planet: Back for Seconds, Tasty Blue and Tasty Planet Forever. He, or at least his clones can only be eaten in a bonus level called Clones.

• In Tasty Planet Forever one of the chefs in the Parisian Cat cutscene is the Old Scientist.
• He and his apprentice are the only characters to physically appear in every game of the series.
• He has a cousin, at least he is mentioned in Tasty Planet Forever at the beginning of the cutscene of the first level.
• He gave him a robot cat. Apparently his cousin is also an inventor, but perhaps he just bought some advanced technology from some store.
• At the first scale of The Time Machine, he and his cousin are the two men standing outside the table.
• If you were able to be quick enough, you can eat him along with the young scientist.
